You can add Terms of Use to your Attendee App [Modern theme apps only.]
This can cover whatever your organization decides is needed or appropriate.
If you don't add any Terms of Use content, attendees won't see a Terms of Use message or link.
What are "Terms of Use" for an app?
It's quite common for apps to include conditions about their use. These may include things like permission to use content posted via the app, community guidelines, who owns content posted in the app, etc.
Example Terms of Use
This isn't intended as legal advice - it's provided purely as an example.
Features in this app may involve community experiences.
By logging in, you agree to these Terms of Use.
If you don't agree to these terms, please do not use the app.
You agree that:
You will not share or link to any images or content that other users find objectionable, inappropriate, or offensive.
You will not use the app to harass other users.
You understand that I may be blocked from using the app if I violate these terms.
You will message the event organizer regarding any posts or comments I believe violates these policies.
Your Terms of Use may cover information for attendees/app users such as:
Your organization's name [the organization running the event] and the event name.
That users are agreeing to only use the app "for lawful purposes connected to the event".
That profile information provided is correct.
Information about exhibitor lead scanning or meeting features if relevant.
That they're responsible for keeping login details secure and for app activity undertaken in their account.
Who owns content posted, and that you have permission to show/distribute it as part of the event [or after the event, if applicable].
What actions will be taken if terms are violated.
Privacy information / links.
Any disclaimers or waivers your legal team recommends.
That terms may be updated, and that continued use of the app after changes take effect means acceptance of the updated terms.
Who to contact.
Again, this list is not exhaustive nor intended as legal advice.
What do attendees see?
On the App’s Login screen, the attendee sees a message under the Log In button, with default text "By logging in you agree to the {Terms of Use}."
[You can change this wording in Localizations – see information further below.]
When the attendee clicks the “Terms of Use” link, it opens a pop-up with any content you’ve added. Long content is scrollable.
Examples:
[Note the default heading is "Terms of Use", followed by a dividing line.]
How to add Terms of Use to the Attendee App
To add your Terms of Use content, go into the Log In component in the Attendee App builder.
Click to open the Terms of Use HTML component inside it:
By default, there's no content here. [However, the default heading and underline will be applied above the content you add here.]
You can add all the usual features you can include in any other HTML component such as images, links, formatting etc.
The default background for the Terms of Use panel is white, so if you change the text color from the default (black), ensure it has sufficient contrast.
Changing the wording on the Log In screen
You can change the wording of: “By logging in you agree to the {Terms of Use}”.
Go to the app builder’s Details tab, under Localizations.
To find the right area quickly, you can use the “Category” field and scroll to “Login & Authentication”.
The two phrases you can change are “By logging in you agree to the”….:
and the phrase/heading “Terms of Use”:
