Modern Event Websites - URLs - UPDATED (September 2026)

Several months ago, we let you know about updates to Modern event website URLs, redirecting them from "eventsair.site" to "eventsairsite.com" top level domains.

This change has improved compatibility across organizations, particularly those with stricter website security policies related to newer domain extensions. Event websites are more universally available with a ".com" domain.

If there was a custom domain on your event website, we directed you to update your DNS records as soon as possible (see below).

Some customers didn't update their DNS records.

We now have updated information that some websites aren't able to renew their website security certificates successfully, if pointing to a custom domain Modern theme event websites where the DNS record hasn't been updated.

UPDATED INFORMATION - IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED:

If you've added a custom domain to your Modern event website, you must log into your DNS provider dashboard, or contact your DNS provider, to update the CNAME record. Please do this as soon as possible.

Custom domain event websites - action required ASAP

If you've added a custom domain to your event website here:

You need to update your custom domain's CNAME record by contacting your domain registrar.

You cannot make this change in EventsAir.

Ask your IT team to contact your domain registrar (i.e. domain reseller) or log in directly to update the DNS settings and make the following change to your CNAME record.

You don't need to do anything regarding the A record.

Note that "eventsairsite" is all one word in the updated CNAME record.

How will I know when this has been completed?

Please note it may take several days for DNS record updates to take effect.

When this process has been correctly completed, you should be able to look in your event website settings, and see that the "Required Data" and "Current Data" columns match, and the "Current Data" details are green.

  • Copy the Connected domain and save it somewhere handy.

  • Press the "Detach domain" button.

  • At the confirmation pop-up, confirm by typing "DETACH" in all capitals and okaying.

After waiting five minutes....

STEP TWO - Follow the green arrows:

  • Paste in the Custom Domain (the one you copied in the previous step).

  • Press "Attach Domain"

  • Press "Save" . Wait for another TEN MINUTES AFTER THIS STEP.

Check your website to make sure it's successfully updated.

As always, we’re here to support you, however the process should be fairly straightforward for your IT team.

If you don't have a custom domain on your Modern theme event website:

If you're still using the older URL, you may want to update it for any analytics services you're using, and in promotional materials (although the latter isn't necessary if you're happy to just rely on the redirect - bearing in mind that the redirect will end eventually, so contact your Account Manager if you plan to keep your site live beyond July 2027).
