Sending from a custom email domain

If you want your event emails to be sent from a custom email domain (i.e. not from "eventsairmail") there are some key authentication steps needed first.

These steps are required (due to changes made in 2024 by major email platforms such as Microsoft & Google) to ensure email security, deliverability, and to protect your domain’s reputation.

If you’re using your own SMTP server (managed by your IT team) instead of the SendGrid account we provide, please contact Support and let us know what server you’re using, as these requirements may differ.

Adding your own custom email domain

Your email domain needs to be verified and authenticated before it can be added to your EventsAir environment.

To do this, you need to:

  • Set up a valid SPF record on your domain

  • Complete Sender Authentication through SendGrid

Why do I need to set up the SPF record?

You need to make this change at your end (on your domain) so that we can legitimately send email from your domain, otherwise your attendee emails will likely be seen as junk/spam.

You will need to instruct your IT manager (or the company that you purchased your domain name from) to add or amend the SPF record on your DNS, to include:eventsairmail.com (see below).

Give this information to your IT department and/or DNS provider:

Please ensure steps 1 and 2 are both completed.

  1. ADD SPF RECORD TO DOMAIN

Example of SPF record: “v=spf1 include:eventsairmail.com -all"

  2. SET UP SENDER AUTHENTICATION in SENDGRID

Authentication needs to be added to your actual SendGrid account (created as part of your EventsAir environment) to validate your domain.

If you need access to your EventsAir-provided SendGrid account to complete this setup, or if you have any questions, please reach out to Support (using the Help widget or by emailing [email protected]).

Once you’ve completed the steps above, contact Support so we can check and confirm everything is working, and then we'll add your email domain to your EventsAir environment, and you can select it in events.
