“Pinning” your version of EventsAir refers to requesting that we don’t update your EventsAir environment when we release a new version.
Some customers may recall a time when this was common practice. However, we now recommend against this for many reasons, including:
If you don’t get the latest release, you don’t just miss new features – you also miss new security patches and issue fixes.
We now release every week (and this will become even more frequent) – so if you’re pinned for two months, you’ll be 8 releases behind the current version!
We can’t maintain backwards compatibility for every feature, and every version – so the longer you’re pinned, the more likely something will stop working.
There’s no need for it - our development capacity, release process, QA testing, and roll-out frequency have all changed dramatically in the last few years. We can also now roll customers back to a previous version immediately, in the rare event this is needed.
If you still would like to pin your EventsAir environment, against our recommendation, you must specify an end date within two weeks.
